The Biomedical Equipment Technician serves as Boston MedFlight’s primary in-house technical resource for the inspection, preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, lifecycle management, and technical support of medical equipment and related systems used in critical care transport operations. Working with a high degree of independence, the Biomedical Equipment Technician ensures that medical equipment is safe, reliable, operationally ready, and maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, Boston MedFlight policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory and safety requirements. The position provides technical expertise throughout the medical equipment lifecycle, including equipment evaluation and acquisition, acceptance testing, deployment, maintenance, repair, upgrades, integration, replacement, and retirement. The Biomedical Equipment Technician also supports organizational innovation through equipment design, computer-aided design (CAD), prototyping, additive manufacturing/3D printing, and development of technical solutions specific to the critical care transport environment.
