About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Engineering Program Manager, this role is responsible for the purchase, operation, safety, maintenance, and quality assurance of patient care equipment. This includes following organizational and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures, and implementing the Medical Equipment Management Plan to assess and control risks and ensure compliance with regulating agencies.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent in Biomedical Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
Valid and current Michigan driver's license

Two years of experience maintaining and repairing medical electronic equipment.

Responsibilities

Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of equipment.
Ensure all equipment has inspection procedures for safety, performance, and Preventive Maintenance (PMs).
Perform pre-acceptance inspection of equipment prior to initial use.
Ensure all equipment has a routine inspection schedule.
Perform routine inspections on equipment.
Ensure all equipment has accurate and up-to-date service histories and statuses.
Serve as a liaison between the Clinical Engineering Department and users of medical technology.
Perform pre-purchase evaluations on equipment as assigned to ensure it meets medical engineering requirements.
Maintain technical competency and stay current on standards and regulations for medical equipment and its application.
Utilize technical expertise to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Perform general repair of equipment as assigned.
Maintain appropriate documentation as determined by the Clinical Engineering Manager.
Participate in Medical Center and/or departmental quality assessments and continuous quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of data, implementation of action plans, or related applications.
