About The Position

Provides advanced levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support. Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.

Requirements

• Preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.
• Review, modification, development, and implementation of written preventive maintenance manuals and quality assurance testing procedures for medical equipment.
• Review of incident reports related to equipment malfunction or misuse and taking appropriate actions to ensure patient safety.
• Leading new equipment evaluations, acquisitions, and installations.
• Obtaining quotes through current requisition processes and working with technical specifications related to bids and capital purchases.
• Exercising proper judgment in evaluating the extent/source of repairs on malfunctioning equipment and determining the course of action needed to cost-effectively maximize equipment uptime.
• Seeking out best value products and labor and parts sources to minimize the total cost of service to the organization.
• Providing in-service training to other clinical engineering service technicians.
• Leading continuous performance improvement initiatives related to medical equipment use.
• Prioritizing scheduled maintenance in accordance with medical equipment maintenance management policy.
• Responding to requests for maintenance services from equipment users; performing initial assessment, problem verification, and troubleshooting.
• Reviewing FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and/or other device recall and problem notification sources to verify if any of the covered equipment falls within the problem equipment listings.
• Conforming to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basis.
• Participating in on-call rotation and upgrade support.

Responsibilities

• Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.
