Under limited supervision, this role protects patients and staff by providing service support for medical equipment and medical computer systems. The technician manages the risks associated with therapeutic, diagnostic, treatment, and monitoring medical devices and associated systems. This includes conducting performance risk assessments, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance in accordance with regulatory agencies like The Joint Commission. The position also participates in processes for acquiring, implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and replacing medical equipment. Utilizing manufacturer training, on-the-job experience, and work-related knowledge, the technician evaluates medical equipment for preventive maintenance, including manufacturer and Alternate Equipment Management (AEM) procedures. A strong understanding of communications (wired and wireless) and network performance is essential for troubleshooting and repairing all biomedical equipment. Emergency on-call services are provided as scheduled.
