About The Position

Bio Med Level II is responsible for the maintenance and service of assigned medical equipment. Performs various tasks associated with installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of clinical equipment with minimal supervision. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the job and an intermediate level of expertise. The Bio Med Level 2 is capable of assisting less experienced technicians.

Requirements

Full understanding of medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repair techniques to perform equipment repairs.
Fundamental knowledge of electronics to include analog, digital and microprocessor theory, pneumatics, hydraulics, optics, electro-mechanics, physics, basic networking, and chemistry.
Knowledge of the use of standard level test equipment to include, but not limited to, multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulator, storage oscilloscopes, manometers, tachometers, etc.
Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or related field preferred.
Certificate in Biomedical Technology.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical equipment service, with at least 1 year in a leadership or senior technician role.
Advanced knowledge of biomedical instrumentation, electronic theory, and diagnostic tools.
Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating medical devices.
Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., EOC, Joint Commission, NFPA) and compliance protocols.
Strong IT literacy including CMMS platforms, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with equipment service.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across clinical and technical teams.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of clinical equipment with minimal supervision.
Assist less experienced technicians.
Perform preventive maintenance procedures on medium risk equipment and a limited number of high-risk medical devices.
Read, interpret, and apply technical data such as schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, table charts, mathematical expressions and formulas.
Learn equipment maintenance, operating procedures, and repair procedures from training materials, courses, and/or manufacturer service literature.
Utilize tools and test equipment required for job duties and responsibilities.
Adhere to confidentiality requirements and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI).
Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for documentation.
Lead, motivate, and develop field technicians.
Solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
Commit to a customer-first service model and continuous improvement.
