About The Position

The Biomedical Equipment Tech 1 is responsible for reviewing work orders and preventive maintenance tasks to determine work priorities. This role schedules the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment through self-performance and delegation. The position directs maintenance activities on biomedical equipment to ensure the highest standards for safety, quality, and availability. Key duties include managing the CMMS database, coordinating special projects, requisitioning necessary tools, equipment, and supplies, and directing the training of workers to improve performance and ensure adherence to Mercyhealth policies. The technician also confers with leadership, customers, and quality assurance staff to resolve maintenance problems and suggest improvements, and assists the Manager with department budget preparation and expenditure monitoring. The Supervisor acts as the department representative and liaison with internal customers.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related degree or Military Bio-Medical related certification
  • In lieu of a degree, 2-3 years of direct Bio-Medical experience will be considered.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.

  • Directs maintenance activities on biomedical equipment to provide the highest standards for safety, quality, and availability of medical equipment.

  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs training of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with Mercyhealth policies and procedures.
  • Confers with Leadership, customers and quality assurance staff to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of work performance and equipment.
  • Assists Manager in preparation of department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
