About The Position

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Intern for its Surgical Imaging team in Raritan, New Jersey. The team develops advanced imaging technology to improve laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. The intern will help develop benchtop ex vivo and in vitro models that simulate human blood and tissue, supporting faster, more controlled testing than current in vivo models and helping advance development of laparoscopic camera software and algorithms. The internship runs for one of two stated cohorts: June 1–August 20, 2027, or June 21–September 3, 2027, with dates aligned to the cohort. The role requires full-time availability, 40 hours per week, during hours agreed upon with the hiring manager. The intern will design and develop models, plan and carry out experiments, support imaging algorithm validation, automate testing workflows, document results, and present findings. The role involves collaboration with imaging scientists, software engineers, and broader R&D teams. Johnson & Johnson describes an inclusive, innovative, growth-oriented environment with mentorship and professional development opportunities. Interns may participate in company-sponsored medical benefits, sick time benefits, and the consolidated retirement plan (pension). Interns are ineligible for severance.
