About The Position

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is seeking a Part-Time Biomedical Electronics Instructor to join the College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math. This role is integral to providing high-quality learning opportunities to students when, where, and how they want it. The instructor will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes, utilizing engaging instructional strategies, maintaining accurate student records, and advising students. The position requires educational leadership and effective collaboration with faculty, administration, and support staff, while adhering to Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and other accreditations. The role may involve teaching in an open lab environment, answering learner questions, and providing on-the-spot learning moments related to Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology/Electromechanical/Automation competencies. Additionally, the instructor will provide educational leadership, work with advisory committees, articulation partners, and community groups, and develop Biomedical Electronics pathways and partnerships with secondary and post-secondary institutions. Instruction and technical support for NWTC Corporate Training and Economic Development are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Electronics or Healthcare Technology Management
  • Five years of related work experience.
  • At a minimum, occupational experience has to have occurred at least 1 year within the past 5 years.
  • Extensive experience working with a broad range of biomedical equipment and devices across multiple medical disciplines, with direct field experience in hospital settings or as a field service technician for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), typically demonstrated in a BMET III role.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the districts standard insurance policy terms.
  • Ability to move around the campus to attend meetings and events.
  • Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery.
  • May be required to work from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Proficiency in using hands and fingers to handle or operate office equipment, tools, controls, and/or heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Capability to push, pull, and/or maneuver equipment as needed.
  • To wear and work in personnel protective equipment as needed.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is preferred.
  • Active involvement in state and local Biomedical Electronics Associations, including participation in meetings, conferences, and professional development activities, is strongly preferred.
  • Certified Lab Equipment Specialist (CLES) and/or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Utilizing engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and communication.
  • Advising and supporting students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals, including being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.
  • Providing educational leadership and working effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.
  • Maintaining Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.
  • Complying with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.
  • Teaching in an open lab environment.
  • Answering learner questions and providing on the spot learning moments on Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology/Electromechanical/Automation competencies.
  • Providing clear Biomedical Electronics pathways and subsequent partnerships with secondary education, including UW System Colleges, and private institutions, as well as regional high schools.
  • Providing instruction and technical support to NWTC Corporate Training and Economic Development.
