About The Position

Mercyhealth is seeking a Biomed Equipment Tech 2 to service various equipment and apparatus, ensuring patient and staff safety. This role involves testing equipment, consulting with medical staff, managing work orders and assets in a CMMS database, and collaborating with external representatives. The technician will also participate in inventory management, budget oversight, and emergency call duties. The position may require flexible hours, travel, and assignment to various Mercyhealth locations.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related or related Military equivalent certifications or CBET Certification.
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an environment that pertains to installing, maintaining and repairing medical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment
Maintain a valid driver's license
Have and maintain driving record per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety policy

Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI preferred

Responsibilities

Services various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia.
Safety tests various equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.
Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely.
Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the department.
Modifies or develops instruments or devices, under supervision of medical or engineering staff.
Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their representatives to assure proper operation of equipment.
Completes daily work orders and other tasks as assigned with minimal supervision.
Acts as a resource for partners.
Participates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking emergency call and helping with special events.
May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends.
May require travel with personal or company vehicle.
May be assigned to any of Mercyhealth locations.
