Booz Allen is seeking a highly experienced, strategic, hands-on Biomanufacturing and Chemical Separations Engineer to bring a new, fully equipped pilot-scale facility online and oversee a team designing, planning, and executing large-volume downstream engineering runs. The role is based at a client research and pilot-scale facility in Edgewood, Maryland, and is not remote. The engineer will develop and optimize downstream processes to recover and purify microbially produced molecules and metabolites. They will assess existing product-isolation methods for scale-up feasibility and execute them at pilot scale. The position also serves as a primary connection among technical teams, external stakeholders, and commercial transition partners, supporting facility performance metrics and efficient technology transfer to commercial scale. The role uses process-improvement frameworks to deliver consistent quantitative or qualitative results and offers the opportunity to gain experience in bioindustrial manufacturing and program management. Applicants must meet the stated education and experience threshold: a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry and at least eight years of relevant experience, or a doctorate and at least six years of relevant experience. Applicants must be able to obtain a Secret clearance and will be subject to a security investigation. The projected annualized salary range is $77,600 to $176,000. Booz Allen describes benefits that include health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work-life programs, dependent care, and recognition awards. Eligibility for benefit programs is subject to the stated hours-worked threshold.
