About The Position

JOB TITLE: Biology Instructor REPORTS TO: Academic Dean – Humanities & Social Sciences DEPARTMENT: Biology EXEMPT: Yes VICE PRESIDENT: Vice President of Academic and Transfer Programs GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students. This position is a primarily daytime position. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Biology or related field, with 18 graduate hours in Biology.
  • Please attach copies of your transcripts for review.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Teach 15-17 hours of undergraduate classes in Biology each term
  • Academic advising of students
  • Manage course grading and records management
  • Contribute to department-wide program development and assessment
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Participate in professional development activities and contribute to the general college community
  • Maintain regular, required office hours to be available and meet with students
