Biology Course Accessibility Assistant
About The Position
The Department of Biology in the Eberly College of Science is seeking a Biology Course Accessibility Assistant to support faculty in improving the accessibility of course materials and learning resources. The Biology Course Accessibility Assistant will review and edit PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Canvas pages, videos, and other instructional materials to ensure they are accessible to all learners. Responsibilities include adding and evaluating descriptions of scientific images, improving headings, titles, reading order, tables, color contrast, and captions, and addressing issues identified by accessibility-checking tools.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Biology Teaching Assistant or Learning Assistant.
- Sufficient biology coursework to evaluate course content for scientific accuracy while making accessibility improvements.
- Full-time registered Penn State student.
Responsibilities
- Review and edit PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Canvas pages, videos, and other instructional materials to ensure they are accessible to all learners.
- Add and evaluate descriptions of scientific images.
- Improve headings, titles, reading order, tables, color contrast, and captions.
