Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology; a graduate degree in aquatic fauna is an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of aquatic ecology.
  • Knowledge of the mining environment: an asset.
  • Excellent scientific writing ability.
  • Knowledge of usual statistical analyses and tests.
  • Scientific rigor and methodology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to popularize scientific concepts.
  • Leadership and teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French.
  • Availability for occasional travel in Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct studies to characterize fish populations, their habitats, and environmental conditions.
  • Conduct baseline studies in mining environments to establish the initial state of aquatic ecosystems.
  • Contribute to monitoring the baseline status of fish species and their habitats.
  • Analyze, interpret, and popularize scientific data.
  • Describe and evaluate the potential impacts of projects on fish and their habitats.
  • Develop mitigation measures adapted to identified issues.
  • Design, document, and participate in the implementation of compensation projects.
  • Contribute to the writing of reports, sampling protocols, and impact study sections.
  • Collaborate on various scientific studies in aquatic environments.
  • Participate in the preparation of service offers and technical deliverables.
  • Contribute to innovation, research, and development projects.
