Axle is seeking a Biologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) located in Bethesda, MD.

  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art confocal microscopy systems
  • Experience with computational analysis of microscopy data
  • Experience with transgenic mice and mouse colony management
  • Experience with sample preparation for confocal microscopy
  • Miscellaneous Biology field of study

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation for studies of rodent inner ear cellular biology
  • Collect and analyze biological data about relationships among and between organisms and their environment
  • Operate laboratory equipment to analyze samples
  • Analyze laboratory findings
  • Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data
  • Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life
  • Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures
  • Prepares, organizes and maintains various lab samples, supplies, and equipment
  • Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Written summaries of experimental findings, including figures and interpretations, delivered as needed for internal review, publications, and presentations
  • Periodic summaries of relevant scientific literature to support experimental design and methodology selection
  • Up-to-date inventory logs, reagent tracking, and equipment maintenance documentation
  • Provides updates (oral or written) during lab meetings or as requested by the COR or on-site manager
