Axle is seeking a Biologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) located in Bethesda, MD.
Requirements
- Master's degree
- Microsoft Office
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art confocal microscopy systems
- Experience with computational analysis of microscopy data
- Experience with transgenic mice and mouse colony management
- Experience with sample preparation for confocal microscopy
- Miscellaneous Biology field of study
Responsibilities
- Perform sample preparation for studies of rodent inner ear cellular biology
- Collect and analyze biological data about relationships among and between organisms and their environment
- Operate laboratory equipment to analyze samples
- Analyze laboratory findings
- Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data
- Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life
- Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures
- Prepares, organizes and maintains various lab samples, supplies, and equipment
- Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures
- Written summaries of experimental findings, including figures and interpretations, delivered as needed for internal review, publications, and presentations
- Periodic summaries of relevant scientific literature to support experimental design and methodology selection
- Up-to-date inventory logs, reagent tracking, and equipment maintenance documentation
- Provides updates (oral or written) during lab meetings or as requested by the COR or on-site manager
