About The Position

Guidehouse is seeking a Biologist to support advanced scientific research on inner ear cellular biology in the Laboratory of Cell Structure and Dynamics within the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). This is a full-time position located in Bethesda, Maryland. The Biologist supports research investigations by designing and executing laboratory experiments, preparing biological specimens, and performing sample preparation for studies of rodent inner ear cellular biology. The role involves collecting and analyzing biological data, operating laboratory equipment, and using computers to store, process, and analyze data. The Biologist also manages transgenic mouse colonies and assists with microscopy data collection and interpretation. Additional duties include organizing and maintaining laboratory samples, supplies, equipment, inventory, and maintenance documentation; learning new laboratory techniques and procedures; analyzing laboratory findings; preparing written summaries, figures, and interpretations for presentations and publications; providing periodic literature summaries; and delivering progress updates during meetings or as requested by leadership. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust, with approved adjudication required before onboarding.

Requirements

Master’s degree in biology or a related field.
At least one year of relevant laboratory experience.
Experience or academic exposure to laboratory techniques and biological data analysis.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work collaboratively in a laboratory setting with small animals (rodents).
Experience with computational analysis of microscopy data.
Experience working with transgenic mice and managing mouse colonies.
Strong organizational skills for maintaining laboratory samples, supplies, and documentation.
Ability to perform repetitive laboratory activities and safely handle standard laboratory equipment.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust; approved adjudication is required before onboarding.
