The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is dedicated to managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. The Office of Fisheries ensures the sustainability of aquatic resources for current and future generations through access and scientific management. This position specifically supports Marine Fisheries as a Coastal Study Area Biologist, based in St. Tammany Parish. The role involves collecting fishery-independent and dependent data from assigned sampling programs. Key activities include conducting field sampling, gathering and maintaining biological and environmental data, and operating/maintaining vessels and sampling equipment. The biologist will also collect fishery-dependent survey data and contribute to the development of aquatic habitat restoration projects.
