About The Position

The Administrative Assistant 2 serves as the first point of contact at the agency, creating a welcoming environment for veterans, visitors, and staff, and providing administrative support that keeps the front office running smoothly. The role involves advocating for Louisiana veterans and their families to ensure they receive superior customer service and support by connecting them to the benefits they have earned, while also meeting the economic, educational, and employment needs of transitioning service members looking to make Louisiana their home. The position is directly supervised by a Veterans Assistance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in administrative services

Responsibilities

  • Performs recurring clerical/administrative duties to include: screening telephone calls and recording messages and refer to appropriate staff
  • Prepares and files routine visitors log sheets
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining files
  • Keep records of internal office reports and correspondence
  • Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
  • Schedule appointments and assist with completing state benefit forms
  • Assist office visitors requiring routine responses or assistance
