About The Position

Assist Director for Biochemistry Program in managing laboratory activities and conducting laboratory research. This role involves performing plant research, generating and documenting findings, preparing plant materials, conducting microscopy, and working on molecular biology. The position also includes compiling data, performing routine analyses, maintaining research data in a laboratory notebook, writing summary reports, and reporting findings. Additionally, the role requires maintaining laboratory equipment and materials according to appropriate standards, and keeping the laboratory area clean. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.S. in biology or biochemistry required.
• Advanced or upper level coursework along with advanced understanding of plant research is required.
• Must have the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to handle highly confidential material, understanding that research information should only be disclosed to others who have a need to know.
• Have the ability to exercise and apply sound judgment and decision making skills as well as the ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of data.
• Express timely and accurate communication with the supervisor.
• Be comfortable with demonstrating different computer software and their applications.
• Knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques used in laboratory and research work.
• Knowledge of research and laboratory equipment appropriate to the area of the assignment.
• Establish and maintain effective communication & working relationships with internal and external constituents.
• Ability to accept supervision, assignments, change, and correction.

• Prior research experience is preferred, but not required.
