About The Position

The Biochemist III will support the early molecule discovery team. The successful candidate will design and implement robust biochemical and biophysical assays to support hit identification, hit triage, and mechanism of action characterization across diverse molecular targets. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with assay development, automation, and high-throughput screening to accelerate early-stage discovery programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field
  • Minimum of 2 year(s) of related experience
  • Experience across diverse target classes including enzymes and protein–protein interactions.
  • Familiar with fluorescence, luminescence, and mass spectrometry-based assay
  • Ability to design experiments that balance throughput, sensitivity, and robustness.
  • Individual and Team work ethic
  • Proficiency with Windows, Word & Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Adheres to company values
  • Champions company values including team engagement
  • Ability to present both facts and recommendations effectively
  • Technical problem solving and process improvement skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills – being approachable, relationship building with external and internal contacts, demonstrating initiative and adaptability
  • Understanding of experimental design and ability to perform necessary background research

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate biochemical and biophysical assays for hit identification, hit triage, and mechanism of action characterization.
  • Perform biochemical assays using TR-FRET, fluorescence polarization (FP), AlphaLISA/AlphaScreen, luminescence, and ELISA formats.
  • Run assays in 384- and 1536-well microplate formats.
  • Execute enzyme activity assays, protein–protein interaction assays, and binding assays with guidance.
  • Prepare assay reagents, protein dilutions, substrate stocks, and compound serial dilutions.
  • Operate and maintain plate readers (e.g., EnVision, PHERAstar, Synergy) and associated software.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data to internal project teams to guide early-stage molecule discovery.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including chemistry, structural biology, and computational groups to support target characterization and screening strategies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed in a timely manner.
