About The Position

The Institute for Justice (IJ) is offering a one-year paid Bingham Fellowship for lawyers who are in between judicial clerkships. This program provides hands-on experience in public interest litigation, focusing on cutting-edge constitutional cases. Fellows will be integrated into case teams, participating in all stages of litigation, working directly with clients, and receiving mentorship, media training, and a collegial work environment. The fellowship is designed to fill a time block either before starting a clerkship or between two clerkships, offering meaningful experience and training in public interest litigation.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Relish the opportunity to create real-world impact.
  • Demonstrate a strong background in constitutional law.
  • An interest in IJ’s mission.
  • Candidates should be looking to fill a block of time either before starting a clerkship or in between two clerkships.
  • Must submit a resume, a cover letter indicating year available, and a writing sample from a legal brief or memo demonstrating complex legal reasoning.
