About The Position

Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Bindery department to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety goals. This role requires a balance of technical oversight and team leadership to motivate staff, optimize equipment utilization, and ensure efficient workflow across all shifts. This is a 1st Shift position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a commercial bindery environment with exposure to multiple types of bindery equipment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or lead role, with a demonstrated ability to manage people and direct work activities.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong technical aptitude for bindery machinery and the ability to interpret complex work orders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be willing and able to work multiple shifts, including nights, as required by production schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct bindery activities to meet customer specifications regarding quality, quantity, and delivery.
  • Monitor machine output, productivity, and waste levels to ensure operational goals are met.
  • Develop and implement daily work assignments and schedules.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure materials are available and workflow is seamless.
  • Provide guidance on initial samples and conduct spot-checks during production runs.
  • Actively troubleshoot technical problems to minimize downtime and prevent non-conforming product.
  • Motivate staff and facilitate training programs to build individual skills and improve departmental efficiency.
  • Provide recommendations for hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and housekeeping standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and ensure that all staff members are properly trained on safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain open and positive communication across all shifts.
  • Participate in production planning meetings to report on job status and raise potential issues early.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment and support the implementation of company-wide quality tools and efficiency initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
