About The Position

The Bindery Operator III calculates and cuts stock for printing, trims printed material, and sets up and operates a variety of equipment in preparing material for binding. This role provides guidance, training, and/or oversight to other Bindery Operators. The position performs bindery operations required to safely and accurately produce finished products for on-time delivery, with broad responsibilities for production efficiency and quality control. The operator uses folders, cutters, perfect binders, punches, gluers, die cutters, and other equipment. They assist in the supervision of student workers using equipment and doing hand assembly, maintain supply inventories, and perform quality control checks to ensure finished products meet specifications. Additionally, the role assists in scheduling and prioritizing bindery tasks to meet production deadlines and ensures compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four (4) years of bindery experience
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets and specifications
  • Experience with a variety of bindery equipment
  • Ability to lead and train others effectively
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in operating a wide range of bindery equipment
  • Must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience in printing and or bindery
  • Vocational training in printing or bindery operations
