About The Position

As a Bindery - Operator I you are responsible for the set up, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of applicable equipment. The equipment operated includes but is not limited to: Case-In machines, Perfect Binders and Saddle Stitchers. This role requires the ability to interpret and apply department policies, procedures and job instructions accurately, and to communicate effectively with incoming shift personnel to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions. The position also involves training new Bindery Operators and crew, monitoring production and quality, and making recommendations for process improvements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of working in a Bindery role.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Bindery - Operator II experience or previous Bindery – Operator I or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work and lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to be flexible, dependable, and have a strong work ethic is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, run, and maintain assigned machinery.
  • Lead and coach crew members.
  • Troubleshoot assigned machinery according to company procedures and practices to assure efficiency and quality to meet the required production schedule.
  • Read and understand the written information pertaining to the job.
  • Strive to meet or exceed departmental and company goals.
  • Interpret and apply department policies, procedures and job instructions accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with incoming shift personnel to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate counts.
  • Coordinate with supervisors/maintenance on timely repair of equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures as set forth by Walsworth.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Train new Bindery Operators and crew.
  • Monitor production and quality to make recommendations on process improvements.
  • All other duties as assigned.
