About The Position
The Bindery - Flat Cutter Operator is responsible for preparing and executing cutting jobs on a flat cutter machine. This role involves operating the machine, managing paper stacks, performing maintenance, and ensuring accurate production counts. The operator will also assist in training and process improvements.
Requirements
- Strong ruler-reading and measurement skills
- Previous experience operating a flat cutter
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to read job instructions and use a ruler
- Must be able to rotate shifts in a 3 shift - operation and work daily / weekly overtime as required
- Strong attention to detail
- Safety conscious
Responsibilities
- Prepare and lay out jobs for cutting on the flat cutter machine
- Input sheet image data into the flat cutter computer system
- Remove paper stacks from skids or jogging machine and place them in trimmer to cut job
- Operate stacker by taking paper from trimmer and loading into stacker
- Apply load flags to finished pallets and maintain accurate production counts and daily reports
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area
- Troubleshoot issues and submit requests for maintenance as needed
- Change knives and sticks as needed to ensure optimal machine performance
- Assist with training others as needed
- Assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
