Bindery - Flat Cutter Operator
About The Position
Lakeside Book Company is the largest book manufacturer in North America. As a Flat Cutter Operator, you will prepare and lay out jobs for cutting on the flat cutter machine, input sheet image data into the flat cutter computer system, and remove paper stacks from skids or jogging machine and place them in the trimmer to cut the job. You will operate the stacker by taking paper from the trimmer and loading it into the stacker. Additionally, you will apply load flags to finished pallets, maintain accurate production counts and daily reports, perform routine preventative maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe work area. You will also troubleshoot issues, submit requests for maintenance, change knives and sticks as needed, assist with training others, and assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Requirements
- Strong ruler-reading and measurement skills
- Previous experience operating a flat cutter
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to read job instructions and use a ruler
- Must be able to rotate shifts in a 3 shift - operation and work daily / weekly overtime as required.
- Strong attention to detail
- Safety conscious
- Most recent performance rating must be "meeting expectations" or above.
- Meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job posting.
- Must be in good standing (i.e. not on Positive Corrective Counseling)
- Must be willing to rotate shifts in a 3 shift - operation.
- Must be willing to work daily / weekly overtime as required.
Responsibilities
