About The Position

The Bindery Bundler is responsible for safely setting up, changing over, and securing printed signatures to supply the binder. This role works closely with the 3-Knife Operator, Binder Operator, and Bindery Assistants. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, workplace and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract).
  • Ability to use a measuring device.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 6 months of experience in manufacturing.
  • Effective email and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to work with PrintStream and Flex.
  • Ability to work with calipers, scales, pallet jack and lift, rulers, small hand tools, air hose, retractable hand knife, and wrenches.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work orders, verifying correct bind type, bulk, trim size, margins, and run lengths.
  • Interpret work order information and its contents.
  • Follow the daily running order provided by the Scheduling Team.
  • Communicate with Supervisor and Scheduling Team as needed.
  • Set up machines and perform quality bundling that meets expectations.
  • Maintain high throughput by performing quick and efficient make-readies and job changeovers.
  • Inspect for quality defects, ensuring quality standards are achieved.
  • Maintain accurate data collections.
  • Understand substrates, bulk, sig size, trim size, and specified margins.
  • Oversee all segments of the bundling operation.
  • Provide training to Bindery Assistants in machine operation and safety.
  • Ensure Bindery Assistants perform duties as necessary.
  • Dispose of all waste properly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, general cleaning, and upkeep of machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with machine repair.
  • Exercise initiative, ask questions, and look for ways to improve productivity.
  • Keep the work area safe and clean.
  • Adequately communicate with the oncoming shift.
  • Perform end-of-shift duties, leaving the area ready for the oncoming shift.
  • Assist in training new operators and employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
