Wood has an exciting career opportunity for a Binder Laboratory Technician to join our Phoenix, AZ team for an individual who is seeking to start a career. This individual will receive and test asphalt binder samples following a variety of standard procedures. Will work under the guidance of experienced staff and be trained. Requirements

Degree not needed
Ability to use laboratory test equipment in an effective and safe manner
Ability to understand procedural manuals and execute work orders
Ability to prepare reports and documentation
Attention to detail
Ability to follow directions
General math skills required
May require the ability to lift and carry bituminous and other samples up to 50 pounds
Ability to work independently
Must pass drug test, physical, background check.

Responsibilities

Conduct tests and investigations in the laboratory and/or field to obtain data for use by engineering and technical personnel in determining physical properties of bituminous materials
Perform laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards
Use specialized equipment including computer automated equipment to prepare analyses, reports, and / or technical drawings
Clean working areas in the laboratory
Enter data and use spreadsheet to communicate results
Confers with senior staff on test results
Set up, maintain and calibrate equipment
Will use basic mathematical equations to calculate test results
Requires some lifting and carrying
Work around hot bituminous materials
Work in a safe manner according to company policies, procedures, and laboratory practices
