About The Position

The Bin Unloader is responsible for safely and efficiently unloading potato bins and supplying the production lines with a consistent flow of raw product. This role ensures that potatoes are handled gently to maintain quality standards while keeping the packaging operation running smoothly. The position requires attention to detail, awareness of product quality, and adherence to food safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Willingness to work in cold, humid, or dusty conditions at times.
  • Basic communication skills (English or Spanish, depending on site needs).
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a food manufacturing or agricultural environment.
  • Forklift certification or previous forklift experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Operate bin‑unloading equipment to empty potato bins into hoppers, conveyors, or receiving systems.
  • Maintain a consistent supply of potatoes to keep the production line running without interruption.
  • Monitor flow of product to avoid line jams, overfills, or equipment blockages.
  • Gently handle product to minimize bruising or damage.
  • Visually inspect potatoes for foreign material, excessive dirt, rot, or defects before loading.
  • Identify and remove out‑of‑spec product when necessary.
  • Report quality concerns to the Production Supervisor, QA, or Line Lead immediately.
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including GMPs, hygiene requirements, and contamination prevention.
  • Keep the bin unloading area clean and organized throughout the shift.
  • Support sanitation activities, including end‑of‑shift cleaning of equipment and surrounding areas.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or bin‑handling equipment if certified.
  • Perform basic equipment checks at start‑up and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Follow lock‑out/tag‑out and safety procedures when clearing jams or stopping equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety rules and wearing required PPE.
  • Record bin counts, lot numbers, and any downtime or quality issues.
  • Communicate product shortages, quality observations, or mechanical concerns to supervisors.
  • Assist other team members as needed to support continuous production flow.
