About The Position

Stantec is seeking a BIM Technician to work under direction of the BIM team on small and medium projects, or as part of a larger team on large projects. This role involves setting up new BIM models, maintaining file structures, and preparing drawing documentation in collaboration with project managers and technical design staff. The technician will utilize Revit Structure for 3D projects, manage multiple models, create views, ensure accurate object placement, and generate electronic data files according to Stantec and client requirements. Responsibilities also include converting markups, publishing and managing drawing sets, maintaining revisions, assisting colleagues with Revit issues, and mentoring design staff on Design Technology systems. The role encourages adding insight and recommendations for efficiency and value in BIM production, and proactively increasing technical and project knowledge through training opportunities. The technician will attend in-house and external meetings and actively participate in initiatives supporting studio and firm-wide goals.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of recent versions of Revit; and how they are applied within the built environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Building Information Modeling.
  • Revit family creation and maintenance.
  • Skilled at clash detection in Revit.
  • Client-centric, can-do approach to project work and assignments.
  • Familiarity with methods of design to support the architectural/engineering field.
  • High level of initiative, with ability to synthesize new technologies, industry trends, and client needs to make recommendations and initiative changes that add efficiency and value.
  • Ability to multi-task and synthesize multiple data points and instructions to timely produce accurate deliverables.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certificate from technical college.
  • Minimum 3 or more years of relevant experience with Revit, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Related experience in the architectural/engineering/contractor industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Clash detection skills with Navisworks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with structural design within the built environment is preferred.
  • Advanced degree in related field.
  • Certifications relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up new BIM models and maintains file structure for projects.
  • Works with project managers and technical design staff to prepare drawing documentation.
  • Works in Revit Structure on 3D projects, including maintaining multiple models, creating views, accurate object placement, and structural geometry.
  • Creates electronic data files in compliance with Stantec and client requirements.
