SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway. The BIM Modeller – Structural Engineering is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating detailed 3D structural models in Autodesk Revit for the light rail project. The role supports design development, multidisciplinary coordination, drawing production, and data compliance in accordance with project BIM standards, client requirements, and delivery milestones.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Drafting, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a BIM Modeller / Revit Modeller in infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit for structural modelling, within the ACC-Forma collaborative platform.
  • Good understanding of structural engineering drawings, detailing principles, and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with reinforced concrete and steel structures commonly used in rail and transit infrastructure.
  • Understanding of BIM standards, LOD/LOI requirements, and common data environment practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on rail, metro, tramway, airport, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with Dynamo or Revit automation tools.
  • Knowledge of IFC export, interoperability, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience working in ISO 19650-aligned BIM environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate Revit structural models for stations, depots, viaducts, tunnels, retaining walls, platforms, equipment foundations, and other structural elements associated with the light rail project.
  • Produce 2D drawings, plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules directly from the BIM model.
  • Ensure models comply with the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP), modelling standards, naming conventions, LOD requirements, and coordination procedures.
  • Maintain fully functional and up-to-date structural BIM models within the ACC-Forma collaborative platform, ensuring correct worksharing practices, file organization, version control, model accessibility, and compliance with project collaboration procedures.
  • Work closely with structural engineers to translate calculations, sketches, and design inputs into coordinated BIM deliverables.
  • Coordinate with architecture, civil, MEP, rail systems, and utilities teams to identify and resolve clashes and design interfaces.
  • Participate in model reviews, internal quality checks, and clash detection processes.
  • Update models based on engineer comments, coordination meetings, and design changes.
  • Support extraction of quantities, material schedules, and model-based information where required.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project deliverables for concept, preliminary, detailed design, and construction support stages.
  • Assist in the implementation of BIM quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are issued on time and in accordance with project and client requirements.
