About The Position

The BIM Coordinator is a lead-level project role responsible for the day-to-day coordination, technical execution, and health of BIM processes within a discipline or across multiple disciplines. On projects with extensive BIM scope, the role may be assigned per discipline; on smaller projects, the role may reside within the Engineering Automation team or with the coordinating discipline such as Architecture for buildings or PD&P for plant projects. The BIM Coordinator oversees BIM Specialists and model users in daily project execution, provides technical support and troubleshooting for Revit users, develops and maintains Revit families, templates, and project content, and keeps BIM workflows operating consistently and efficiently across the project. The role is also responsible for a significant portion of the project cloud collaboration environment, including BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), such as folder structures, user access, model sharing, publishing workflows, issue tracking, and model coordination processes. The BIM Coordinator acts as a practical bridge between design teams, discipline leads, Engineering Automation / PIIM, and project stakeholders to ensure BIM deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project standards.

Requirements

  • Typically 7+ years of BIM, Revit, digital delivery, design, engineering, or construction technology experience, including lead-level coordination responsibilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Revit, including worksharing, model setup, family development, templates, parameters, schedules, and model performance management.
  • Hands-on experience with BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud administration and collaboration workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks, model coordination, clash detection preparation, issue tracking, and multidisciplinary coordination practices.
  • Ability to lead and mentor BIM Specialists and support a broad user base with clear, practical technical guidance.
  • Strong understanding of BIM standards, model quality requirements, naming conventions, data requirements, and common project BIM workflows.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining model quality, project standards, and schedule commitments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dynamo, Power BI, data validation, automation scripts, or advanced BIM analytics is preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting building, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, industrial, infrastructure, or plant projects with significant BIM scope.
  • Experience working in an Engineering Automation, Digital Solutions, PIIM, or discipline-embedded BIM environment.
  • Experience coordinating BIM delivery with external engineering consultants, architects, construction partners, or client stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with ISO 19650 concepts, Common Data Environment practices, model-based delivery, and structured information requirements.

  • Prepares and supports model coordination activities, including model reviews, coordination views, clash detection readiness, issue tracking, and model status reporting.
  • Promotes consistent use of worksets, model setup, coordinates, linked models, views, sheets, parameters, and project content across the assigned scope.
  • Provides daily technical direction and task-level oversight for BIM Specialists, modelers, and project Revit users within the assigned scope.
  • Assists with workload planning, priority setting, and coordination of model production activities to support project milestones and deliverables.
  • Mentors BIM Specialists on project standards, modeling practices, collaboration workflows, troubleshooting methods, and quality expectations.
  • Escalates resource, quality, compliance, or workflow concerns to the BIM Manager, discipline lead, or PIIM / Engineering Automation leadership as appropriate.
  • Provides hands-on support to Revit users for modeling issues, worksharing problems, synchronization errors, model performance concerns, family behavior, view setup, and production workflow challenges.
  • Diagnoses and resolves common model-health issues, including warnings, corrupt elements, link failures, audit requirements, file size growth, and coordination inconsistencies.
  • Supports project teams in applying practical modeling solutions that balance production efficiency, information requirements, and model performance.
  • Coordinates with IT, Engineering Automation, and software support teams for issues requiring deeper application, infrastructure, or configuration support.
