About The Position

The BIM/CAD Coordinator develops and maintains BIM models and CAD drawings for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related mechanical systems. The role reviews project drawings, specifications, submittals, and architectural and structural models to understand project requirements, then coordinates mechanical systems with other building systems while considering equipment access, maintenance clearances, supports, and installation sequencing. The coordinator performs clash detection, documents conflicts, and works with project teams and other trades to resolve issues. They participate in coordination meetings, communicate model changes and outstanding issues, and help prepare coordinated installation, fabrication, spool, and layout drawings. The role also works with shop and field personnel to ensure drawings support practical fabrication and installation methods. The coordinator incorporates approved changes, field conditions, and project revisions into models and drawings; maintains organized project files and documentation according to company standards; and supports project closeout by preparing record drawings and model deliverables based on information from the project team. They also help improve modeling standards, templates, content libraries, and coordination practices, and follow company safety requirements when visiting jobsites or fabrication areas.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain BIM models and CAD drawings for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related mechanical systems.
Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, and architectural and structural models to understand project requirements.
Coordinate mechanical systems with other building systems, accounting for equipment access, maintenance clearances, supports, and installation sequencing.
Perform clash detection, document conflicts, and work with project teams and other trades to resolve issues.
Participate in coordination meetings and communicate model changes, outstanding issues, and upcoming deadlines.
Prepare coordinated installation drawings, fabrication drawings, spool drawings, and layout information as required.
Work with shop and field personnel to confirm drawings support practical fabrication and installation methods.
Incorporate approved changes, field conditions, and project revisions into models and drawings.
Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and model documentation using established company standards.
Support project closeout by preparing record drawings and model deliverables based on information provided by the project team.
Help improve modeling standards, templates, content libraries, and coordination practices.
Follow company safety requirements when visiting jobsites or fabrication areas.
