About The Position

The HH&H Billing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes within the Home Health and Hospice (HH&H) sector of the healthcare industry. This position is responsible for managing patient billing information, verifying insurance coverage, and submitting claims to payers to facilitate prompt reimbursement. The specialist will collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to resolve billing discrepancies and optimize revenue cycle management. By maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements, the role supports the financial health of the organization while enhancing patient satisfaction through clear and accurate billing communication. Ultimately, the HH&H Billing Specialist contributes to the seamless financial operations that enable the delivery of high-quality home health and hospice care services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with electronic medical records and billing software required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of medical billing experience preferred.
  • Home Health and/or Hospice billing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing preferred.
  • Expertise in medical billing software and electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and healthcare regulations.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis coding.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Process and submit Home Health and Hospice insurance claims.
  • Manage denial resolution, appeals, and reimbursement follow-up.
  • Reconcile patient accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
  • Verify insurance coverage, authorizations, and billing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and payer regulations.
  • Support audits and maintain accurate billing documentation.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support timely reimbursement.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and pay representatives.
