About The Position

This remote position focuses on obtaining insurance information and referral forms, counseling patients on financial assistance, and scheduling/registering patients via phone or email. The role involves explaining the billing process, answering patient and payer inquiries, and collaborating with colleagues to resolve issues. The associate will also assist with account maintenance, sending reminder cards, and managing the patient reminder system. Occasional edits to provider scheduling templates may be required based on physician input.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain insurance information from patients and counsel on alternative financial assistance options.
  • Review and update patient schedules as necessary.
  • Call patients to provide appointment time reminders, obtain insurance information, and collect referral forms.
  • Process internal physician referrals for clinical care.
  • Explain the billing process to patients and answer inquiries from patients and third-party payers.
  • Collaborate with others to solve moderately complex problems.
  • Explain the billing process to other staff and assist with basic account maintenance.
  • Assist patients with insurance questions related to the billing process.
  • Support staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties.
  • Work with the Relatient patient reminder system to contact patients or make scheduling changes.
  • Perform daily edits and temporary changes to provider scheduling templates based on physician input.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
