About The Position

The Billing and Collections Specialist will process insurance claims for medical services rendered and follow claims until paid. This role also involves monitoring active clients’ utilization management to ensure treatment is covered by insurance, working with the clinical team as needed. Axiom Care, founded in 2012, is a Phoenix-based behavioral health organization dedicated to providing compassionate, effective substance use treatment to Arizonans. They operate facilities in Maricopa and Pinal Counties, offering comprehensive services including 24/7 observation, inpatient detoxification, residential treatment, outpatient treatment, and recovery housing, with a focus on underserved populations. Axiom Care also runs specialty programs for the justice-involved, members of the Navajo Nation, and Veterans. As part of Axiom Care’s commitment to Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS), this position supports efforts to provide inclusive and accessible translation services for clients, including participating in CLAS-related training, supporting language access initiatives, and promoting cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation for accuracy for coding and billing purposes
• Submit claims and all communications pertaining to the claims being submitted.
• Keep and update active reports for billing and billable items.
• Utilization review (submitting and monitoring prior authorizations)
• Reviewing denials for reprocessing
• Posting insurance payments against claims in billing software
• Verifying eligibility of clients prior to billing
• Following up on insurance eligibility for pending enrollments
• Attends meetings as needed for clearinghouse, billing, provider relations, etc.
