Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Billing Analyst. This position could be based in our Any of our West Cost offices.

Requirements

• College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree, or equivalent work experience
• 1-3 or more years hands-on billing experience in a law firm
• CMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently
• Ability to show strong attention to detail
• Ability to perform at high levels in a dynamic ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
• Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative

Responsibilities

• Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as required
• Maintain a portfolio of billing attorneys.
• Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
• Process write-offs following Firm policy.
• Ability to handle a high volume of complex bills in a timely manner (i.e., multiple discounts by matter, split-party billing, preparation of electronic bills).
• Ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and clients.
• Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
• Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
• Work with applications team to create and implement new billing formats.
• Create and distribute monthly reports.
• Adhere to Firm billing policies.
• Utilize computerized accounting and payables software programs (CMS, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities.
• Ensure strict confidentiality at all times.
• Assist with special projects, other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
