About The Position

The Biller plays a critical role in the healthcare and social assistance industry by managing the accurate and timely submission of patient billing information to insurance companies and patients. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle management.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong understanding of insurance claim processes, coding, and healthcare billing regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical skills daily to review and verify billing information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues and clarify information.
• Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records enables efficient processing and submission of claims.
• Attention to detail is critical in identifying discrepancies and preventing errors that could delay payments.
• Organizational skills support managing multiple accounts and maintaining comprehensive records to facilitate timely revenue collection.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., Certified Professional Biller or Certified Coding Specialist).
• Experience working with multiple insurance providers including Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies and government programs in compliance with billing guidelines.
• Review patient accounts for completeness and accuracy, including verifying insurance coverage and patient information.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance providers and patients to resolve issues.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to clarify billing information and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant healthcare regulations related to patient billing and confidentiality.
• Generate regular reports on billing status, outstanding accounts, and revenue collection for management review.
