About The Position

The Victim Advocate will provide comprehensive case management, advocacy, and supportive services to individuals affected by domestic violence. Working under the supervision of the Director of Treatment Programs is vital to ensure victims receive the resources and guidance they need to move toward safety and stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and possesses intermediate general computer skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms with English and Spanish-speaking customers.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and proof of current automobile liability insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage.
  • Negative TB test within 12 months prior to employment or completed before hire.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift to 30 pounds.
  • Must submit three professional letters of reference prior to employment.
  • Must pass a background check; employment is contingent on satisfactory results.
  • Must complete a 90-day probationary period after employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of YWCA Crisis Training, 36 hours of training, and Trauma-Informed Training via the ODMHSAS website within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed case management services to domestic violence survivors.
  • Advocate for clients with various systems including legal, medical, housing, and social services.
  • Conduct needs assessments and assists clients in developing individualized safety and service plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and services provided.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and provide emotional support to clients as needed.
  • Participate in community outreach efforts and help connect clients with external resources.
  • Collaborate with team members and attend regular staff meetings and training.
  • Ensure client confidentiality and uphold all agency policies and procedures.
