Requirements

  • College Diploma in Human Services or equivalent with some direct experience in child and youth work or youth justice work in a community setting
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of service coordination and effective system-based interventions related to children, youth and their families obtained by training and/or extensive experience in various capacities with this population
  • Sound knowledge of agency policies, Child, Youth & Family Services Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act and requirements of the Ministry of the Attorney General
  • Extensive knowledge of services and resources available, both at a local and provincial level.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and successful application of relevant legislation (i.e. CYFSA, Human Rights, Health & Safety, PHIPPA)
  • Ability to write clear & concise reports, computer literate, and able to meet deadlines and other administrative requirements
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and with communities
  • A thorough understanding of anti-oppression values and principles is important
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is required
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required and proficiency will be tested.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a collaborative and integrated approach to service delivery by engaging the child/youth/family, professional support services, and community support services to work together on behalf of the child.
  • Document strengths, needs, goals and service strategies.
  • Establish target dates for work to be accomplished.
  • Document all information in a Single Plan of Care.
