About The Position

The Bilingual Preschool Promise (PSP) Coach provides reflective, relationship-based coaching to early learning educators serving children in PSP programs, with a focus on supporting primarily our Spanish-speaking early learning educators. The coach responds to coaching requests and referrals, while proactively supporting PSP implementation and continuous quality improvement in PSP environments. This role delivers individualized coaching and technical assistance aligned with PSP expectations, policies, and procedures. The Bilingual PSP Coach also serves as a mentor to educators in family and center-based settings to strengthen instructional practices, meet program goals, and improve the quality of early care and education for children and families enrolled in Preschool Promise funded programs.

Requirements

Knowledge of how children from birth to five (5) learn within the context of ongoing, meaningful relationships with important adults in their lives.
A thorough understanding of the needs of preschool children, their families, and those who work with them.
Knowledge of how programs engage families in partnerships.
Strong knowledge of effective teaching practices.
Two (2) years of experience providing technical assistance and training, including coaching, to early education programs, providing classroom observations and/or home visits to families with young children.
Experience supporting the primacy of families, their home languages, cultures, and understanding of how to engage them.
Knowledge of inclusive practices in preschool programs.
Knowledge of how to best support the early learning workforce in all settings.
Effective techniques of adult learning and relationship-based coaching practices.
Knowledge of early learning quality assessment tools or willing to learn
Knowledge of child assessment and screening tools or willing to learn
Bilingual, Biliterate (English/Spanish) required
Experience promoting equity-minded and diversely represented communications and materials, experience in responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Studies, or in a related field; or Oregon Registry Step 10, required.
Two (2) or more years of experience in an early childhood program with a focus on preschool-aged children.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Oregon Registry Master Trainer, preferred or willing to work toward a Master Trainer Credential.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain trusting relationships with early education programs and educators to create an environment that supports learning, reflection, technical assistance, and collaborative coaching.
Facilitate a Community of Practice for PSP educators.
Conduct regular observations using both formal and informal tools.
Provide or coordinate professional development based on educators’ identified needs.
Engage educators through consultations to promote continuous improvement in service quality through PSP implementation.
Help educators build an understanding of Preschool Promise quality standards—including Supportive Environments, Ambitious Instruction, Leadership with Knowledge, and Inclusionary Practices.
Provide support, resources, and recommendations to strengthen program services.
Encourage educators on environmental changes, inclusion strategies, assessments, and resources to support best practices in early learning, developmentally appropriate practices, support dual language development, and social-emotional growth.
Conduct regular observations using formal and informal tools, providing feedback to guide improvement.
Serve as a resource for research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve outcomes for Preschool Promise children and families.
Provide materials and recommendations to strengthen implementation and meet coaching goals aligned with Preschool Promise expectations.
Participate in ongoing coaching with ELSI Mentor Coaches and the TRI Coaching Community of Practice.
Take ownership of professional development to strengthen coaching, training, and technical assistance skills.
Support and advocate for Preschool Promise programs, educators, and quality early learning initiatives through collaboration with community partners and participation in local and statewide meetings.
