About The Position

Riggs Community Health Center is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Pharmacy Clerk to support the daily operations of our Pharmacy. This non-licensed position works at the front desk of the Pharmacy and provides excellent customer service while assisting patients, processing transactions, maintaining records, and supporting the Pharmacist and Pharmacy team. Riggs Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Certified non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable medical, dental, and behavioral health care to Tippecanoe County. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Pharmacy Technician license is not required for this position.
  • Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to accurately handle cash, payments, and patient information.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy management software.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
  • Bilingual (Spanish), required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare, pharmacy, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer phones, assist with general pharmacy questions, and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Receive prescriptions and refill requests and ensure necessary information is provided to the Pharmacist.
  • Assist patients with prescription status and pick-up while referring medication-related or clinical questions to the Pharmacist.
  • Process pharmacy transactions, collect co-payments, and accurately handle cash and payments.
  • Maintain accurate patient information, records, documentation, and pharmacy transactions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and other applicable privacy requirements.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory, including stocking shelves, organizing supplies, and identifying low or outdated inventory.
  • Assist with incoming deliveries, inventory counts, and pharmacy recordkeeping.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-desk and customer service area.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pharmacist, Pharmacy staff, providers, and other Riggs CHC departments.
  • Follow all established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
