About The Position

Briarpatch Youth Services is seeking a qualified Spanish bilingual interpreter/translator to provide both in-person and virtual assistance to Briarpatch staff and program participants. Interpretation will include meetings between staff members and youth/families. Translation services will include agency documents and literature.

Requirements

Fluency in English and Spanish (test will be given)
Experience working with families and youth representing diverse communities.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism are essential.
Flexibility, as meeting times can change based on family needs.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout Dane County.
Openness to training and growth.
Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 1 year of professional onsite interpreting experience preferred.
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide accurate, confidential, culturally competent, and impartial interpretation between Spanish speakers (who have limited-English-proficiency) and English speakers.
Interpret as needed/required in various settings.
Respond to Spanish language phone calls on the regular business line (non-crisis calls).
Adhere to professional ethics, including client confidentiality and impartiality.
Provide translation for selected agency brochures and literature.
Maintain an accessible calendar for staff interpretation requests.
Accurately complete daily logs, timesheets, and activity reports as needed.
The potential exists that this role may case manage a small caseload over time with proper training.
