Requirements

  • High school diploma or 2 years or 30 hours of college experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Grade levels: K-12th
  • One year of experience working with children or students preferred.
  • Fingerprint/criminal background clearance required and Tuberculosis clearance required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and school staff
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills required
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced school environment
  • Unwavering belief that all children can learn.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals.
  • Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft Office experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support students individually and in small groups with classroom assignments and academic activities.
  • Reinforce lessons and instructional concepts under the direction of the classroom teacher and assist with implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Translate verbal and written communication between students, families, and school staff as needed.
  • Support bilingual students in developing academic, organizational, and study skills.
  • Maintain student records, files, and classroom materials.
  • Monitor students in classroom and school settings to promote a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist teachers with clerical and classroom support tasks including scheduling, copying, and organizing materials.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and school activities as needed.
  • Provide support during emergency or urgent student situations when necessary.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment as you maintain the confidentiality of students and families.
  • Other duties as assigned.
