About The Position

The HR Generalist will serve as a strategic partner to multiple segments within the Canadian business, providing expert advice and support on a wide range of day-to-day operational functions, including employee relations, talent management, compliance, and organizational development. This incumbent will possess an understanding of HR best practices, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex HR issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including experience in a generalist HR role working in a multi-site and multi-provincial organization.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, Canadian employment laws, and best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Fluently bilingual both written and oral – English/French.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CPHR) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and issues within their segments.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct investigations and provide recommendations on employee grievances and complaints.
  • Address employee queries regarding leave policies.
  • Manage disability cases with our external consultants and Insurance provider.
  • Collaborate with management to identify staffing needs and partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support effective recruitment strategies.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Collaborate with management on high potential employee development plans.
  • Support performance management processes, including performance reviews, goal setting, and development plans.
  • Partner with HR Ops to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Support initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness, including employee engagement and development programs.
  • Collaborate with management to implement change management strategies and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Participate in various HR projects and initiatives, such as Manager development resources, diversity and inclusion programs, HR program continuous improvement.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on HR best practices and emerging trends.
