About The Position

The YMCA of the National Capital Region is seeking a Bilingual Housing Case Manager to join their team. This role operates within the Housing Support Office, which provides programs and services for individuals with Affordable/Social Housing needs, including Supportive Housing, Family Shelter, and Transitional Housing for youth and women. The Case Manager will serve women, men, and families, offering case management, counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals. The position requires a commitment to the Y mission and core values of responsibility, honesty, caring, respect, and inclusion. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field
  • Fluent in English and French, oral and written
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in social services, preferably with youth
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification
  • Valid permit to work in Canada
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the housing field preferred
  • Other languages are an asset
  • Knowledge and sensitivity in dealing with individuals with homelessness, addiction, and mental health
  • Knowledge of community resources relevant to youth
  • Training in suicide intervention and non-violent crisis intervention preferred
  • Proven facilitation skills for workshops and information sessions

Responsibilities

  • Providing general information to individuals and agencies regarding eligibility for housing in the Y’s Housing Services.
  • Scheduling and conducting interviews with housing applicants.
  • Developing and maintaining individual goal plans with assigned clients.
  • Providing case management, counselling support, crisis intervention, and referrals for clients.
  • Providing life and social skills workshops.
  • Maintaining standards for reporting and operating procedures.
  • Reporting statistical data.
  • Ensuring client confidentiality and that all files and records are secure.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with relevant agencies.
  • Maintaining the workplace to ensure a safe and clean environment.
