About The Position

Provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones and team members on assigned unit(s). This role involves direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI) for patient treatment and healthcare operations. The chaplain will document interventions, participate in interdisciplinary team activities, provide crisis and bereavement support, and perform sacramental services. Additionally, the role includes providing education programs to promote the relationship between spirituality and health, and offering devotions or invocations for organizational functions.

Requirements

• Master level theological degree is required, with a Master of Divinity being the preferred degree. Master level equivalent theological degrees may be considered.
• Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a listing in The Database of Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (ope.ed.gov/dapip/).
• Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for full time, two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for part-time, one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education for pool. All units must be recognized by ACPE, APC, NACC, NAJC, CPSP, CPE-I, or ICPT.
• Ordination, licensure, or commissioning and endorsement as a chaplain by a religious body listed in the US Defense Department list of Recognized Religions.
• Active spiritual faith demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Documents interventions on the patient chart, including referral source, spiritual assessments, interventions, and follow-up/referral plan.
• Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in patient rounds, case reviews, ethics consultations, and advanced directive consults.
• Provides crisis intervention and bereavement support for persons experiencing suffering, tragedy, or loss.
• Performs requested sacramental services, applicable chapel services, and/or arranges for the provision of these services by community clergy.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Provides education programs, inspiration and support for patients, their loved ones, team members, and the community to promote the relationship between spirituality and health.
• Per request, provides devotions and/or invocations for Orlando Health and/or Orlando Health sponsored functions.
