About The Position

The Advisor, Leaves Management provides subject matter expertise and operational support for McKesson Canada’s leave of absence programs. Key responsibilities include supporting HR partners and people leaders on case-specific questions and escalated or complex leave of absence matters, maintaining accurate leave data and updating HRIS systems, monitoring leaves and working internal and external partners to ensure proper oversight, conducting analyses of leave trends, coaching and delivering training when required. The Advisor ensures that established processes and policies are followed, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support positive employee experiences, and contributes to continuous improvement activities led by senior team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience with the day to day operation of disability/leaves management programs, understanding disability management best practices, policy interpretation, vendor management, trend analysis and people leader coaching/training.
  • Fluent in both English and French (oral and written fluency is required).
  • Knowledge and experience in disability/leaves management, and familiarity with managing insured and salary continuance disability claims; knowledge and familiarity with federal/provincial regulations and job protected leaves.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with clients and peers, and attention to detail and a polished sense of business acumen.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Workday, ServiceNow and similar systems preferred.
  • Professional designation or certificate related to disability/leaves management is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key point of contact for questions related to leave of absence processes, policies, and cases.
  • Monitor all leaves cases to ensure that they’re being managed appropriately, and intervene where/when appropriate to move them towards resolution.
  • Oversight of Leaves Administrators’ cases through regular review meetings, coaching and ensuring adherence to service-level expectations.
  • Provide guidance to HR partners and people leaders on complex matters, including complex disabilities, workplace accommodations, return-to-work guidance and policy interpretation.
  • Ensure timely reporting of disability claims and support the consistent application of best‑practice claim management by employees, people leaders, and Leaves Administrators.
  • Maintain and update documentation for team processes, tools, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure accurate governance and execution of administrative tasks and Workday leave data (e.g., plan sponsor forms, leave status updates, disability pay stop dates, gradual return-to-work pay updates, etc).
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on processes, participating in training and documentation updates, and assisting in assessing employee and people leader experience.
  • Assist the Senior Manager with more complex cases, special projects, and initiatives as needed.
  • Update and prepare leave metrics and trend reports; identify issues requiring escalation and provide input into recommendations developed by senior team members.
  • Participate in delivery of training sessions for people leaders and HR partners.
