About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is hiring a remote BI Developer for its Data & Analytics team at the National Support Center. Applicants may be based anywhere in the United States. The role owns the end-to-end business intelligence lifecycle, optimizing the flow of data from Microsoft Fabric into high-performing Power BI semantic models and dashboards. The BI Developer partners with Analysts to establish a trusted single source of truth, administer workspace governance, and ensure organizational data security. The position builds and maintains semantic models, transformations, reports, and dashboards using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. It includes designing complex models and DAX logic, optimizing performance, managing security and access, maintaining version control and promotion workflows, and troubleshooting production issues. The developer also implements enhancements and resolves build and performance defects during user acceptance testing. Required safety and compliance training must be completed, and other reasonably related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in BI development.
  • Hands-on Power BI experience, including DAX, data modeling, and row-level security.
  • Direct hands-on experience with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, including Data Factory pipelines, Notebooks, and Lakehouse management.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong SQL skills and direct experience querying cloud data platforms, lakehouses, or data warehouses.
  • Experience administering Power BI or Fabric workspaces, user permissions, and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric Adaptive Query Optimization (FAQO) for semantic model performance and query execution across Power BI datasets.
  • Proven ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and refresh failures in production BI environments.
  • Experience with advanced external development tools such as Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
  • Experience with Power BI Project files (PBIP) and Git-based version control workflows.
  • Basic understanding of, or strong interest in learning, connecting front-end and back-end web applications such as React, .NET, and Node.js with the Power BI REST API, including supporting scripts for querying data and applying dynamic filtering.
  • Customer-service orientation, professionalism, organization, and focus on team goals.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple concurrent report builds and enhancement requests.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for conveying technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable semantic models, calculated tables, and transformations on Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouses, and Warehouses, based on Analyst specifications.
  • Design complex data models with multiple sources, advanced relationships, and non-standard calculation logic.
  • Build advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and complex calculation logic for high-priority or high-complexity reports.
  • Build standard and moderate-complexity reports and dashboards from approved specifications, following established visual and formatting standards.
  • Optimize model performance, including query speed, refresh times, and dataset size, and use Fabric Direct Lake mode where applicable.
  • Update existing models as source data or business rules change, coordinating with IT Engineering when upstream Fabric pipeline or delta table schema changes are involved.
  • Define and maintain row-level security (RLS) and object-level security (OLS) across semantic models and datasets.
  • Manage workspace-level access provisioning, capacities, and permissions in the Fabric and Power BI services.
  • Enforce naming conventions, visual layout standards, and folder and workspace structure standards.
  • Maintain semantic models under version control using Fabric Git integration and a development-to-test-to-production promotion process.
  • Handle report refresh issues, manage semantic model health, and perform routine production troubleshooting.
  • Implement enhancement requests and minor logic changes, and resolve complex build or performance defects during user acceptance testing.
  • Complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management.
