About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER NAS division is currently seeking a BI Analytics Engineer. This is a hybrid role that will be located in our Beachwood OH, Dallas TX, Glendale Heights IL, Houston TX, Littleton CO, Moon Township PA, Mountainside NJ, New York NY, or Raleigh NC facility. We are hiring a BI Analytics Engineer to join the North American Sales Business Analytics team to execute the roadmap enabling strategic use of data at Eaton. You will join a team with the mission to empower our sales and customer support teams with tools that drive decisions grounded in insights from data. You will also contribute to efforts across the broader organization to enable access to self-service data, working closely with other technical (IT, Data Engineering, and Data Science teams) and business (North American Sales, Sales Reporting, Channel, and Product Management teams) stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity to drive work on large analytics investments and build data products, which enable data driven decisions at Eaton. A successful candidate will combine their technical skills, a passion for problem solving, and a curiosity to develop a business acumen to build data products that are tailored to their users and impactful to the business. As a BI Analytics Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for delivering and maintaining highly available self-service data platforms. You will be part of a community of technical data analysts, with an opportunity to work on meaningful projects ranging from developing critical data pipelines that help run the business to building tools to analyze and support storytelling using Eaton’s sales, commercial operations, and strategic planning data, which guides the North American Sales organization. Your work will drive Eaton’s initiative to make informed data- driven decisions that maximize efficiency and effectiveness. This role will require you to work in a consultative capacity with product owners and business users to understand how they inform decisions for their teams and develop solutions to fulfill analytical, reporting, and operational data needs across these teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Data Analytics / Data Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in analytics, business intelligence, data engineering or related STEM fields
  • Minimum 7 years of working experience in relational databases and data warehouses (understand concepts of data modeling), and BI platforms/applications like Power BI, QlikView, or Tableau
  • Experience reading/writing SQL queries
  • Candidates must currently reside within a 50 mile radius of an Eaton facility in any of the following locations: Beachwood OH, Dallas TX, Glendale Heights IL, Houston TX, Littleton CO, Moon Township PA, Mountainside NJ, New York NY, or Raleigh NC.

Nice To Haves

  • Working experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
  • Experience with Python with exposure to machine learning
  • Familiarity with big data/cloud technologies (Azure, Snowflake, Dataiku etc.)
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Familiarity with DevOps ideas and concepts, including exposure to working in a CICD framework (e.g. Git)
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching and mentoring team members
  • Ability to manage both up and down in the organization as the position will be working with and providing technical guidance/support to the Business Analytics Manager as well as working with business stakeholders and users and product owners

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with product owners and business stakeholders to develop analytics solutions
  • Create analyses through creative visualizations and data storytelling techniques
  • Build, maintain, and evolve data products, including data pipelines, models, and dashboards, that serve as the basis for all analyses performed by our North American Sales teams
  • Maximize efficiency and streamline processes in our data pipeline and dashboard development framework using agile principles
  • Collaborate within and across other teams like data engineering to drive improvements in data pipeline and data warehousing components that are simple, reliant, and performant
  • Consult on and resolve tier 2 & 3 technical support issues related to the analytics platforms
  • Develop strong understanding of data domains (sales, customer support etc.) captured through operational processes and customer interactions
