About The Position

The Division of Substance Use Disorder (DSUD), within the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHDID), is seeking a BH/DID Program Manager to join our Adult Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Services Branch. The branch oversees federal and state funding to support the delivery of various substance use treatment and recovery services statewide. The branch provides technical assistance to the substance use disorder treatment programs within Kentucky's 14 community mental health centers. This role is for individuals with experience in and a passion for leading substance use treatment and recovery services. The agency may authorize the selected candidate to telecommute, but this arrangement can be modified or terminated at any time.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of professional experience in the administration or management of institutional activities, BHDID Central Office, community, or agency programs.
  • Experience leading substance use disorder treatment and/or recovery programs or services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges as they arise
  • Time management skills and self-motivated to complete tasks and meet deadlines
  • Goal-oriented and motivated to assist the division in program improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, nursing, health administration, or public or business administration will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and coordinating the work of branch staff responsible for assignments, projects, and job responsibilities
  • Monitoring and assisting in the implementation of substance use treatment and recovery programs, projects, and evidence-based practices supported by the branch
  • Providing supervision to branch staff, including approval of leave time, evaluations, and managing personnel matters
  • Providing technical assistance to DBHDID leadership, staff, and external partners regarding substance use treatment and recovery services
  • Representing DSUD and the department at internal, local, regional, and national meetings, including presenting at state and national forums and conferences
  • Developing and assisting with the development of presentations, reviews, and other materials related to substance use treatment and recovery
  • Other duties as assigned.
